Richie Cole on growing up in a the Jazz mecca that was Trenton

Saxophonist Richie Cole talks to Trenton Makes Music student and fellow musician Tom Littwin and classmate Keith Glidewell about how his upbringing in the Trenton area influenced his jazz career. He talks about the Harlem Club and Hubby’s Inn – the segregated clubs that his father owned, the quality of local music education, and some of the jazz greats that he met and worked with as a young musician. Cole also talks about how one of his signature tunes, “Trenton Style,” reflects the distinctive elements of the Trenton sound, and touts new and forthcoming projects. He also mentions local jazz greats Tony DeNicola, Bob Smith and Tom Passarella, among others.
